My personal experiences with wine are limited. They include
trying different types of red and white wine on airplanes, family dinners and occasionally
with friends. Airplanes, usually have a limited selection of wine. I read the
label and remember distinctly that there was wine from Chile. That caught my
attention, because I did not realize that Chile produces wine.
I
prefer sweeter wines. I enjoy white wine that is light and fruity. I also enjoy
some red wines like Port wine or red wine mixed with dark chocolate. You can
smell the chocolate while drinking the wine and it has a different effect on
your tastes while drinking it. Usually, I drink these wines on its own with
friends or family. I have never mixed wine with food.
This
semester, I would really like to learn about food and wine pairings. I am
interested to see how food and wine pairings effect the taste of the wine. I am
looking forward to broadening my wine knowledge, and being able to taste a
variety of different wines. My hope is that by the end of the semester, I will
be able to look at a wine bottle and know what to expect in terms of taste, and
what to pair it with.
